Golden Sands

Golden Sands is one of the best and most famous Bulgarian sea resorts. Situated at the northern part of the Black Sea, at about 18 kilometers north of Varna, the town lives perfectly up to its name.

There is an old legend about where the name Golden sands originates from. It says that a long time ago pirates ravaged so many ships and robed them out of their treasures that they had to dig the gold in. And so they did, but the sea and the coast took revenge on them and turned the golden treasure into golden sand.

Golden Sand’s beach was awarded with the Blue Flag several times. And it fully deserves it. Its beach is about 4 kilometres long and up to 100 metres wide with crystal clear water. The temperatures during the summer vary between 27-35C and the water temperatures are usually with 4-5C lower which makes it ideal for sunbathing.

Golden Sands is one of the major resorts on the Bulgarian sea coast, although a relatively small place. Yet, you could find anything you are looking for on a holiday here- from cozy small hotels trough spa centres to intensive night life; numerous attractions on the beach-from the old traditional donkey rides to parachute flights.
